Gaffa describes Sanyu as « an artist who, with a smile, gives the finger to all music journalists who would rather put artists into industry-shaped genre boxes ». She has performed at several festivals in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Egypt, and her debut album, “Circumspect,” released in spring 2026, has been described by Dagens Næringsliv as a rich and highly distinctive album.

On stage, she is joined by some of the most distinctive musicians from the young Norwegian jazz and electronic music scene: Rino Sivathas on drums, multi-instrumentalist Kristina Fransson, and Joachim Mørch Meyer on bass. Together, they display both a sense of calm and an intensity in the way they play and interact musically.
