L’Autre Collectif, founded in 2019, is a network of musicians based between Paris and Oslo. Its five current members share a common interest in music rooted in the traditions of jazz, contemporary music, electronic music, and improvisation.

United by a shared desire for artistic creation, collaboration, and collective development, L’Autre Collectif organizes two festivals each year, one in Oslo and one in France: L’Autre Festival. Since its first edition, these festivals have provided an opportunity for the members of L’Autre Collectif to commission composers living in Europe and to premiere new works performed by a specially assembled group, L’Autre Ensemble.

The composers invited so far include Eve Risser, Kalle Moberg, Matt Choboter, and Fanny Ménegoz. The collective has also hosted the Norwegian big band Ojkos.

L’Autre Collectif also runs its own record label, Autres Records, which releases albums by members of the collective as well as by emerging musicians working within its broader artistic community.

Fem

In addition to the Autre Ensemble, the Collectif also develops a group composed of its own members: the ensemble Fem.

Fem has already presented two programmes at the Emanuel Vigeland Museum in Oslo: an original programme combining compositions and improvisations, as well as a tribute to the music of Morton Feldman. These two projects were recorded and then released on the Collectif’s label: Solos at Vigeland and After Morton Feldman.
